Waiting on God is not a passive state. The spiritual state of ‘waiting on God’ and just gritting our teeth and trying to wait for some relief are quite different. The Lord promises that when we are able to “abide in Him” as we wait, the outcome of our circumstances will be a life that is changed and renewed. Whether we are waiting on God to change a situation, another person, or ourselves, the principles of waiting are the same. When our prayers seem to go unanswered, waiting may push up feelings of impatience, annoyance, hopelessness, hurt or anger, as the enemy attempts to tear down our faith by putting fear in our heart and doubt in our mind. But our Mighty God is always working for His children’s good, and to build up and help us walk in conquering, holy Faith. When our faith is tried, God desires to show us how to triumphantly wait on Him. Our God understands and cares about our spiritual and emotional struggles; Jesus wants us to come to Him, and talk out our thoughts and sort through our feelings. True waiting on God requires us to process through and release our frustrations, doubts, fears, and despair onto His outstretched arms. Subsequently, God’s powerful Holy Spirit will replace our harmful feelings and thoughts, with His gift of truth, faith, hope, and love. This will take us to a different state of waiting- ‘waiting on God’. When we are ‘waiting on God’, we begin to expect, look for, and hope in Him. Our focus changes from what we lack, to the Lord’s ability to give us, in His time, what we need, and the ability for us to rest in our situation. Remember, as we go through the process of learning how to wait on God; strength, power, perseverance, and a closer relationship with Lord Yahweh will become our personal possession. He is always changing more than we can see………He is changing us!
“But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired” (Isaiah 40:31) amp.
