Jesus hung on the cross, with His arms wide open, tenderly calling for you and for me! Jesus, the Anointed Messiah paid for our sins! When we surrender, release, and give our hearts to Him- He is Most Powerful and able to take and carry our sorrows, struggles, fears, hurts, and anger! He died and rose again, to carry the burden of our sin away, and give us eternal and abundant life! With the Holy Spirit, as our teacher, we will grow in a relationship with him, as Savior, Lord, and King- He makes all things new! He is risen! He is alive!
Jesus calls out and proclaims, to all who are feeling overwhelmed, overburdened, and struggling, to turn around and come to Him, and you will find grace, strength, perseverance, and help. Don’t run away in pride and fear, run to Him. He offers Himself, as the Way for all His anxious, fearful, and struggling children to find rest, while living in this stressful world. When we have labored long and feel spiritually weary, physically exhausted or mentally depleted, His gentle call is, “Run to me -Come to me I will help you find the overcoming victory you are searching for.”
Because of His great love, the Lord is always intensely and intimately concerned about the state of our minds and hearts. When it feels as if we are “going under,” it is His will to draw us and lift us up. But during trying times, negativity and lies will often pull at our hearts-God doesn’t care about me; God is punishing me; God is like all the other people who have hurt me- this is too hard, while our faith in a loving God is tried, and the enemy tempts us to walk along the path of pride, bitterness, self-pity, unbelief, and grasp for some kind of control of the situation.
Nevertheless, Jesus continues to call, and we must make the choice to turn to Him or attempt to run away and not feel, or attempt to go into a control mode. Following negative thoughts will make us run away or lead us to striving and trying to figure things out our way, apart from Him. Listen to His call today: “So everyone, come to me! Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, and easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me”.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls]” (Matthew 11:28).
