We have all experienced days or seasons of trouble and difficulty. During times like these, we usually feel the need to cry out to God for help, because we recognize the need for something bigger than ourselves to trust in and lean and rely on. In the day of trouble, our weakness acknowledges that only God has the grace and strength we need, to keep us stepping forward. Because Jesus loves us unconditionally, and more than we are able to comprehend; He is pleased when we want and need to give Him a place in the ongoing process of our lives…..including times of trouble. He yearns to hear us talk to Him, and as we give Him our worries and fears, He will help us work out our heart. Then we will be able to trust Him more fully to see us through to a better place. God wants us to experience a “lifting up” in our spirit when we encounter Him during prayer…… As He replaces the heavy, troubled, burdened heart with His Light, love, and joy, we will find His protection and support gives us heart rest—even in the middle of our “day of trouble.”
“May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob set you up on high [and defend you]” (Psalm 20:1).
