All throughout the Bible, as God’s children, we are promised favor, good plans for our future, restoration and healing. WOW, we are so blessed! But there are times, whether experienced in our past or the present, when our circumstances are full of loss, and have caused our hearts to break. The weight of a broken heart hurts and is filled with the emotions of fear, sadness, anger, and confusion. With our hearts carrying these heavy, negative emotions, our human nature has the tendency to fall into the abyss of self-pity, and hopelessness. As we continue to carry all that negative energy, it becomes more and more difficult to resist the gloomy downward spiral into depression. Of course we would all like to simply put all these attached negative emotions, and baggage down, once and for all, and move on, but it is not quite that easy. Yet in the middle of our pain and sorrow, the Lord gives us hope and promises us there will be a new day and a new beginning for those who will come to Him for help. He promises to heal our broken hearts, bind up our wounds, and cure our pain and sorrow. The truth is this: He is closer than we know, and feels the pain with us-we are not alone. He will take our pain and help us work through our troubles; as we learn to release the layers of hurt and anger which fill our hearts to Him. Gradually, as the Lord works His healing ointment of Love into our emptied out heart, the miracle of healing begins, and our wounds gradually heal. God wants to bring His children to a place where His abundant life is discovered and embraced.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [curing their pains and their sorrow]”(Psalm 147:3)
