As we assess our responsibilities and duties, we often feel weighed down with worry and anxiety. With our hearts in this burdened condition, we can easily plummet into a fearful state of foreboding, which create expectations that something bad is going to happen. In this panicked state, we worry that the heaviness of our burden will cause us to blunder or fail. We usually recognize that a whole heap of feelings-fear, anger, and hurt-is layered and wrapped within our burdens. In spite of that, our Lord tells us to continuously cast our burdens on Him, for it is His will to release us from the weight. Not only should we petition the Lord for what we need, but we must also cast our feelings onto Jesus. When we feel then release our sadness-or our anger-the weight is transferred from us onto Him. This clears out our souls, making room for the Holy Spirit to breathe His Life- which consist of acceptance through Christ atonement, peace, and joy, into our hearts. God desires to carry the weight of His children’s burdens and lighten our load.
“Cast your burden on the Lord[releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you: He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved [made to slip, fall, or fail]” (Psalm 55:22).
