Most of us thrive when we feel familiar and in control of our circumstances, but when we experience unexpected change, which test our faith, we become afraid of the challenge to keep stepping forward. In spite of our best efforts to believe, fear seems to overthrow our faith. However, Jesus experienced and understands our struggles, and He is willing and able to lead us down the path that will prevail over fear. The prerequisite for taking our first step on this path is to become like a child and hold tight to the hand of our “Good Father”. He is a kind “Abba- Papa” and will not let go or leave His precious, fearful children. Then, as we continue to move forward in spite of feeling afraid, our good Father will give us the courage to remain on the path with Him. Next, we will come to a place on the path where we realize that we must attempt to talk to Him about our fears and try to trust Him just a little bit! He is the good Father- understanding the reasons we are so afraid- longing to bring us to a place where we can trust in His love- even if it is little trust. He wants to help us when we cannot help ourselves. So let us look to Him and He will give us the grace to step forward and find the good plans He has for our futures.
“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee”(Psalm56:3).
