Most of us have so much going on in our lives it’s sometimes hard to stay focused on what really matters, and to keep moving forward with purpose. The Lord knows we need help to stay grounded in stepping forward, so He speaks about doves’ eyes to give us a teaching picture. A dove has a single-purposed eye that can only gaze at one solitary object at a time. As we learn to keep our eyes’ on Jesus, through the ups and downs in life, by leaning, relying and trusting in His name, we will eventually become spiritually grounded. As we experience walking in His peace, and moving forward in the purposes that God has planned for us and those we love, we will agree with this old hymn: “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.”
“Behold, you are beautiful, my love! Behold, you are beautiful! You have doves’ eyes” (Song of Solomon 1:15).
