Waiting on God, and just waiting are quite the opposite. Whether we are waiting on God to change our heart, a situation or deal with another person; the principles of waiting are the same. Many times simply waiting for change involves feelings of impatience, annoyance, hopelessness, hurt or anger. Our God understands and cares about what we are going through, and longs for us to come to Him-talk it out- and work on letting go of our negative thoughts and feelings. Then He promises to bring us to a different state of waiting- waiting on God. When we are waiting on God, we begin to expect, look for, and hope in Him. Our focus changes from what we lack, to the Lord’s ability to give us what we need and the spiritual ability for us to rest in our situation. Remember, as we go through the process of learning how to wait on God; His strength, power, perseverance, and a closer relationship with Christ will become our personal possessions. He is always involved in and changing more than we can see-He is changing us!
“But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power, they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired’ (Isaiah 40:31).
