When fear and anxiety are motivating our decisions, usually more conflict and confusion are created from our choices. As the pattern of making choices out of fear and worry becomes established in our hearts and minds, we will simply follow fear instead of faith. Attempting to shape our futures through our own anxious efforts and ideas – apart from the Lord’s guidance is vain, unproductive, and futile. The testing point of faith begins when there is need in our lives. When we realize that our needs, wants, and goals cannot be achieved in and of ourselves, God has an opportunity to prove Himself faithful to His Word. If we choose, even without logical proof (faith), to move forward by trusting in God’s authenticity, goodness, and unconditional love, the gift of faith will start growing in our hearts. Walking in faith is a lifetime work and the growing process will continue on, as our faith evolves into a beautiful, stronger, relationship with Christ . Then we will be motivated, by His Spirit to make positive choices; because we can trust and rely in His goodness, faithfulness, wisdom, and knowledge. It is God’s will to take His children’s’ worry and anxiety, and build us up with His blessings of guidance, peace and rest.
“Except the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; except the Lord keeps the city, the watchman wakes but in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to take rest late, to eat the bread of [anxious] toil- for He gives [blessings] to His beloved in sleep” (Psalm 127:1-2).
